"To find beauty is to travel; to preserve it is a life's work."
The Roots of a Collector
Born in the spiritual heart of Morocco, Fez, in 1951, my journey began far from the bustling medinas. I was raised on a farm with my uncle until the age of seven, a time that instilled in me a deep connection to the land and its silent stories.
Returning to Fez to study, I felt the call of the horizon early. At fourteen, I left the classroom; at fifteen, in June 1965, I arrived in Tangier—a city that would become my home and my canvas.

The First Steps in the Medina
My apprenticeship started in a small bazaar in the Medina. For four years, I walked the paths from the Medina to the Kasbah as a salesman, learning the language of objects and the art of the deal.
In 1970, Boutique Majid was born in partnership with my uncle, Hajj Mohammed Rais El Fenni. He was more than a partner; he was a great teacher with impeccable taste. Behind every milestone of my success stood my father, Hajj Idriss Raiss El Fenni—the foundation upon which my career was built.
"In 1974, I met my wife Mie Nielsen. She came from Copenhagen, Denmark, and fell in love with everything here. She has been the artist behind the scenes ever since."
A Life of Discovery
Every ten years, I pushed the walls—making the boutique bigger, nicer, and more interesting. But the heart of this business isn't the walls; it is the thrill of finding. I have spent decades traveling to far-out places, searching for the soul of Moroccan heritage.
After 30 years of searching, I have built a fabulous collection of textiles, silk embroideries, and tribal jewelry. Boutique Majid is the culmination of that search. I invite you to visit and experience this fabulous place for yourself.
